I used Derwent Pastel pencils to create this image of a pair of scissors.
I loved using them. I used brushes to move the pastel around and blend and a 2b pencil for fine detail. Takes a bit of getting used to as the ‘point’ blunts very ouickly – not a bad thing, just need to get used to it. It’s nice not getting your hands too mucky, reduces unwanted smudging or needing to use tracing paper
How do you like the Derwent pastel pencils? I use Derwent Coloursoft (coloured pencils) and quite like them (although it seems most people do not). I’ve been dabbling in pastels (although mostly oil pastels) and am tempted to buy a set of pastel pencils, since I really like the feeling of working with a pen or pencil (as opposed to a brush).
